About Exhibition
DairyTech 2026 took place on 27–29 January 2026 at Crocus Expo. At the fair, 183 exhibitors from 17 countries showcased their products. Leading Turkish companies in the dairy production and equipment sector—including Polat Makine, Uzermak, STK Makina, Hommak, Orbit Mühendislik, Anka, PDM Paketleme ve Dolum, and Kromel—participated in the exhibition and established new business partnerships.
Since 2002, the International DairyTech has been the leading trade fair shaping Russia’s dairy and dairy products production, equipment, and technologies sector, bringing together global industry leaders under one roof. The fair hosts thousands of industry professionals every year. In the previous edition, 210 exhibitors from 38 countries met with 5,442 visitors.
Russia’s Dairy Production Industry
Milk production in Russia has continued to rise following a strong performance in 2017.
The volume of raw milk production has been increasing nationwide, supported by strong investments from foreign companies as well as government support in the form of subsidies and loans. As the sector’s recovery points toward higher milk prices, further investments are expected.
Russian milk producers increased production by 3.5% in 2017. Among private farms and large agricultural enterprises, total raw milk production in Russia reached 15.86 million tons in 2018. By 2024, Russian dairy exports are projected to increase 2–2.5 times, reaching USD 650–800 million.
Stagnation and Declining Profitability
The general downturn observed in dairy and dairy product production in Russia has influenced the economy’s shift toward imports. Low industry profitability and long payback periods have not encouraged the emergence of regular investors or growth in production volumes.
Product Embargo
Reduced competition from producers in EU countries initially led to a decline in Russia’s dairy production capacity. While the increase in marketable milk production was around 2–3% in 2014, it has risen to 5–6% annually in recent years.
Over a four-year period, raw material production increased by 2 million tons, accounting for 10% of commodity production. Powdered milk and curd cheese have been the main drivers of production growth. Curd cheese production increased by 7.6%, while milk powder production rose by 3.5%.
Solutions for Sector Development
Modernization, investment in modern technologies, and genetics are key factors in strengthening competitiveness in the domestic market.
Currently, 40–50% of producers and 60–70% of processors in the dairy sector meet modern standards. Another major priority is opening up new markets.
Sector Structure
-
More than 20,000 raw milk producers
-
Over 900 dairy product manufacturers and processors
-
More than 200 service companies
Russia has a large number of local producers, and consolidation in the dairy industry remains low. This increases competition in the domestic market and creates a favorable environment for further development. The sector shows strong growth potential in both dairy production and processing.
Experts note growing interest—particularly from China—in establishing joint processing facilities in the Far East to expand exports to Southeast Asian countries.
From a domestic market perspective, milk consumption in Russia could increase by 25–30% over the next 80 years.
Today, dairy exports amount to USD 300–310 million, with the main sales markets still being CIS countries, where export growth potential is nearing saturation. The upcoming edition of the fair, scheduled for 24–26 January 2024, will continue to bring together the major players of the sector.
