Reise + Camping, Germany’s largest trade fair for camping equipment, holidays, and travel, brought together 1,000 exhibitors from 20 countries with over 60,000 visitors last year. Held simultaneously with Fahrrad Essen—Germany’s most important bicycle fair—Reise + Camping showcased a full range of products and services, from camping equipment to mobile homes, and set trends for the recreational vehicle and caravan industry.

With record sales reaching €11.7 billion, Reise + Camping introduced travel enthusiasts to a wide variety of equipment related to camping life and the travel sector.

Visitors showed the greatest interest, respectively, in caravans, camping accessories, and international tourism.

The Fahrrad Essen fair, held concurrently with Reise + Camping, took place across two halls, bringing together 250 exhibitors from 12 countries to present the latest bicycles, accessories, and bicycle tourism concepts.

Caravan, Camping, and Tourism in Türkiye

As Türkiye’s tourism sector continues to grow, efforts to reach higher per capita income targets include expanding activities in areas such as gastronomy, congress tourism, and golf tourism. In addition, caravan-based holidays represent significant potential for increasing tourism revenues by attracting both domestic and international travelers.

In recent years, interest in camping as both a holiday option and a sporting activity has increased in Türkiye, with sales of camping and camping-related products rising by nearly 50%.

Changing holiday preferences have also led to increased activity in the caravan and camping equipment sector. The growing demand for alternative tourism among white-collar professionals is further stimulating the caravan market. According to estimates, caravan and camping tourism—being more cost-effective—also causes less harm to nature.

The Turkish caravan market is largely dominated by domestic manufacturers. Caravan producers state that approximately 600 caravans are sold annually in the domestic market. While this figure is considered relatively low, manufacturers emphasize that Türkiye has a potential market value of around €5 billion. Prices for towable caravans range between 15,000 and 45,000 TRY.

According to data from sahibinden.com, during the first seven months of the year, the number of towable caravan listings increased by 36%, while prices rose by 34% compared to the same period of the previous year. Domestic caravan manufacturers are generally preferred in the towable caravan segment.
